[ the constant scent of the blooming flowers is enough to leave anyone nauseated, let alone someone with matthew's enhanced senses. and that would be bad enough without the injury sustained from trying to rescue whatever items possible from the ferry before it went down. if you asked elektra, she would say she's not well equipped to care for anyone, but she shows up at his door after stopping by the store anyway, a few supplies in hand that she's not sure will help or not.
she knocks lightly at his door, waiting for whatever response he's capable of making. ]
I'm at the church. It looks like a lot of everyone's missing items were finally returned. For some reason your glasses were tucked into one of my shirts. Are you around?
[ Technically a downloadable file, on the 25th December Matt will receive this message: ]
Hello Matt,
I wasn't sure what sort of books you might like, but I thought you might enjoy this one. Happy Christmas.
[ And then a downloadable file to an audiobook. The narrator should sound extremely familiar, and it's performed with great care. It's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." ]
[Robin sends along a link to an app for Matt to download. The app is called SONGBIRD, and as soon as Matt opens it up, a song starts to play!
Upon further exploration of the app, it seems to be a music-sharing service that links directly to Robin's personal music library. Which, uh, she's been here a while and has been collecting music since she arrived, so her collection is freakishly expansive. Like, every song you could ever want to hear? It's on the app.
Characters will also be able to create and share playlists if they choose, and hey, it looks like one's already been created! It's a playlist specifically for Matt, and it's chalk full of classic rock.
Enjoy your limitless jukebox, Matt. It has accessibility features too so that anyone in Beacon will be able to operate it, and there's a button to easily share the app with the rest of the network. (Let us know if he shares it!)]
[Attached is a picture taken just outside the church. It's a small army of tiny snowmen (no taller than 5-10 inches) or perhaps more accurately snow sigillaria. If you look, each snowman has an initial on its belly to correspond to the people Jason considers himself close to. Written in the snow are the words: Happy Saturnalia & Merry Christmas.
He couldn't find enough gifts for everyone he wanted to, so he sculpted these an sent out a sort of Christmas card instead. Of course, the snowmen are still there in person for the foreseeable future.]
( They meet as they usually do, at the halfway point between the Invincible and the village, near the Bonfire Square. It's day after the spirits appeared, and the inspector is as anxious as Matt has ever known him to be. They are nearby somewhere, playing their incessant, unsettling music, and when the other man is in Javert's line of sight, he goes to his side immediately. )
I trust you know of our predicament?
( He didn't want to speak about it over the network. Ever since the siege, he hasn't trusted it, and that is especially true when it's the spirits he wishes to discuss. )
A ridiculously sealed note is left at Matt's place. When he manages to finally open it - why? so much tape?? - he'll see the following message written in a surprisingly neat cursive script:
Hi Mr. Matthew,
I wanted to let you and the other people who fell asleep during the events and dreamt know the following: You can write to Dr. Solis and tell her what you dreamt.
You can do so at the Post Office. Postmaster General will send your letter to her.
And I hate doing this part but I really, really I'm asking pretty please to write to Dr. Solis and share your experiences with her. I wasn't able to find Mr. Elliot in the directory so I think he's gone. Meaning some details will be missing since his POV isn't around.
Thanks, Daylight.
(And no.... Day will not realise what he's doing by sending this note............)
[ after the raid on the facility where the spirits had been keeping them, elektra has been doing her best to recuperate. it's taking longer than she'd prefer it to, but that's to be expected given what they'd been doing to her and how hard she'd fought to get out. she still hates it, is furious at the weakness and lack of control that persists even after a couple days pass. at the same time she's relieved to be back and safe and on the mend, albeit with a strange green glint in her eyes that she's not sure whether or not she's really seeing when she looks in the bathroom mirror. she debates asking matthew about it, if he can sense anything different about her physiology beyond what her body is healing from, but he's worried enough and she's fine. or she'll be fine.
this is what she thinks, until the illness starts.
she can't recall ever experiencing sickness like this as an adult when she was alive; the only thing that comes close is the time the hand has poisoned her. this is how it had felt when the spirits had returned her after force feeding her their own kind but worse; the nausea only ebbing when the stomach cramps kick in and her whole body trembling with fever and chills.
the first round of vomiting has her regulating herself to the couch downstairs, not trusting her legs to take her back up to bed after she'd nearly stumbled down them in her haste to make it to the bathroom. she's curled up underneath a blanket, eyes closed in an attempt to get some rest before she starts losing whatever remains in her stomach. ]
