( he figured as much. in fact, he's actually mildly surprised Javert might want him along for the ride. not that he's been comically playing up his blindness, in fact he's done just about the opposite of that around Javert — still, a blind man is rarely a first thought for company on a potentially dangerous stakeout.

he's surprised, but, truthfully quite appreciative. the only indication of that fact is a momentary glimmer of a smile, grim though it is. )

( it'll be worth the risk, if they can track where the parade goes. better yet, what the hell it means. he keeps a solid grip on his cane as they walk, though at this point less to make a point of using it and more because if they run into anything, he can use it as a weapon. ) Does anyone know what the parade does yet?

Other than the sickening compulsion, no. But I am not so eager to find out.

( Knowing the spirits, it could either be something harmless or dangerous. There doesn't seem to be much in between, and so Javert will choose to be cautious, and keep an eye on it. It's become a habit of his to study the comings and goings of many of the people in Beacon, so why not the spirits?

He nods, then says, )

We will take our usual route. If we come across the parade, then we will take cover and examine their movements.

( knowing the general tendencies of the spirits outside of town, Matt isn't optimistic about the parade. especially considering the compulsion to draw people closer, that doesn't bode well either. he figures it's a matter of severity rather than simply a possibility of danger.

Matt doesn't comment on their route, simply falls into the familiar path. )
