How long do you expect me to keep up the façade that you're not blind?

( and he's 3 for 3 on unhelpful nonanswers, thanks a lot Matt. )

( will he still pretend to be Foggy if it suits him? yes. will he still pretend to have a wife if it will help? also yes. but as far as he's concerned, Jess doesn't have to be a part of it outside of pulling the wool over on an old man. )
don't think i don't see those keywords
[ it's been a while, but she remembers her neighbors. and she's seen enough movies and bad television to have heard about how people in small, weird towns discuss each other. even if it were just to the other people running the motel, she's sure there was a mention of that nice nelson couple.
or of that nelson couple, whatever. ]
Look, when it comes to pretending you can see, I don't care, I'll do it. But if you're gonna include me in your plans, give me a heads up first.
i didn't see them! lol though
( he hasn't exactly found a way out yet, but Matt isn't ready to resign himself to being trapped here yet. he has a mobster to punch!!! )
Asking you to scope the place out was the heads up.

[ not that she's given up on finding a way out. she just doesn't think it'll be as easy as he's declaring it will be. it was hard enough for them to punch trish and whoever was wearing his suit into submission, and not just because neither of them were functioning at the capacity they should be.
she still isn't. it's getting uncomfortable. ]
You're an asshole.
[ but that's where she'll leave it. for now. ]

( he's not stupid, he knows it won't be easy or obvious... but it has to exist. right? )
I know you can run with a cover story without advance notice, so what exactly is the problem here? Should I have been your fake brother?
no subject
[ the real problem is he'd done it after deliberately avoiding her until he needed her for something again, and while that tracks with what she knows about him, she doesn't appreciate it. if they were back home it would be one thing, but they're not, and there are more important things to worry about than her potentially asking about his not death again.
not that she doesn't have plans to do that, eventually. ]
Brother and sister would have been a less involved backstory, but I can keep up with husband and wife.

You wouldn't think they could take such a presence in small-town America after Midland Circle blew up, but I'm not ruling them out just yet.
I doubt we'll need a cover story frequently, but fine. Next time I'll warn you ahead of time if I can.

Thanks for agreeing to the bare minimum.
