[ that's something maya has some experience with --- prosecutors playing dirty, trying to exploit every loophole possible, just piling more and more crap onto the defense in the hopes it'll stop them. it didn't stop phoenix. and it won't stop this man, either -- not if maya has anything to say about it. ]

[ she digs through the files, making a bit of a mess as she ruffles through them -- but she's got good eyes and quick fingers. before long she's waving a handful of papers in front of him. ]

Mr. Murdoo--- I mean, Matt, look at what I found!

[ a beat. ]

Ummm.... I mean that metaphorically, of course.

( young as she looks, with a quick call to the temp agency he gets word back that somehow she's in the clear. it makes Matt want to have a long talk with whoever is responsible, though that does make the fact he's taking advantage of her services at least a little hypocritical.

they work in decent tandem, her shuffling through files he hasn't managed to digitize yet and him slowly and aggravatingly going over his own, though at a much slower pace despite himself. he's focused on the movement of his fingers so the flicker and sudden trill of a heartbeat doesn't register, but her voice does shortly after.

and it was good of her to get the obligatory initial "come see! oh, you can't" out of the way quickly. it made life less awkward when people realized it was okay to use general colloquialisms about sight around him without offending. ) Metaphoric would be the more convenient way, ( he says, goodnaturedly. he moves to join her, staring past her while idly touching at the top of the file. ) What does it say?

( he's able to glean bits and pieces, maybe more if he focused enough. because apparently he can read maps and shit without a sense of sight. still, it'd probably be a bit suspect if he didn't have her read it out loud. )

[ listen it could be worse, sometimes phoenix's assistant is pearl. in future games, his nine year old daughter earns the money. teenage girls pulling all the weight in law offices isn't anything new to maya. ]

Orrr, I guess come hear? Since I'll be announcing it triumphantly in a sec.

[ well, if he's not offended, she won't make a fuss. it seems like he's an easygoing guy, anyway. he can probably hear the grin in her voice, she is pretty pleased with herself. ]
